According to the Guardian, project Xanadu, originally commenced in 1960 and has had it’s first release.
Ted Nelson, the main who coined the term ‘HyperText’ conceived the project and it is seen as a ‘better’ alternative to current web technologies. Ted claims that current internet technologies are trivial compared to his vision but he missed his chance to release back in the 1980s and the web has conquered the world since. Difficult to imagine how different the world would be with Ted’s technologies instead of Tim Berners-Lee’s but you do know one thing – Ted, his companies and his backers would probably be a lot wealthier.
There’s a lesson for you, kids. Release early, release often.
